Jean Smart returned to Broadway after 25 years in Jamie Wax’s one-woman play. In a Louisiana trailer park in 1989, Izzy hides her poetry from an abusive husband, writing in stolen moments with whatever is at hand, and begins to wonder whether her talent could lead to a different life. The run earned Outer Critics Circle nominations for Smart’s performance and for Wax’s play.
