Why we said yes
Five actors, a band, a true wartime con, and a writing collective, SpitLip, that built the show step by step from a 2019 run at London’s small New Diorama Theatre to a West End home at the Fortune Theatre and the 2024 Olivier Award for Best New Musical. London audiences saw it again and again, which is the surest sign a musical has found its people. A cast of five keeps a musical’s running costs within reach, the John Golden Theatre is one of Broadway’s most intimate houses, and the original London company came with the show. We joined as a co-producer.
Where it stands
Opened at the John Golden Theatre on March 20, 2025, with the original London cast. Jak Malone won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, and the show was nominated for Best Musical, Best Book and Best Original Score. The Broadway run has been extended repeatedly, most recently through March 14, 2027, and the West End production is in its fourth year at the Fortune Theatre.
